As I think I’ve mentioned before, when it comes to beer, I am a total label whore – a sucker for a good design idea. Well, I’m also quite fond of interesting brewery names – Green Flash seems very Marvel Comics-esque to me, and I do love me a good superhero! Can’t wait to see the Green Hornet when it comes out next year :) There’s something about that Seth Rogen…oh wait, that’s my other weakness; cute jewish boys ;)

Anyway, onto the beer!

Pours a delightful looking brassy gold, almost-clear colour into the glass, and tops off with a nice, slightly off-white, fluffy head. The head fades out to a small skimming on top of the beer, but sticks around enough to leave some super strong lacing on the inside of the glass.

The aroma just about knocked my socks off (or would have had I been wearing any in this putrid heat)! Full of juicy, fruity hops! Grapefruit/lemon with some tropical pineapple and mango, also some piney notes are present for the party. Honestly, it’s all I can do not to just guzzle the lot immediately!

To say that the hops in this beer are “unsubtle” would be a grievous understatement (the 95 ibus agree); hop-bomb is a description that comes to mind, but in a completely enjoyable way! Fresh citrus peel and tropical fruits followed closely with those pine resins. The malty side of this beer is well structured enough to bring some balance to the hoppiness, and has a very nice honeylike finish.

Great drinkability for a beer that cracks the 7% mark, though I’m sure the damn near perfect carbonation doesn’t hurt that! I liked this beer a lot, only wish that I could regularly pick up a 6’er locally :(
