hoppyblonde

My friend Amie (@CatLadyBeer on twitter) stopped by last weekend to say hi and try out a couple of our brews on the way home to Gainesville, and to drop off the score she picked up for us in NoFL on the way down (including a Harpoon 100 Barrel Series ESB I plan on cracking open tonight!!). She also very kindly brought us some of her first two homebrews to try; which of course we reciprocated by overloading her with another 6-8 of ours to take home ;)

The first of the two is her Hoppy Blonde Ale; a pale golden colour in the glass and a little hazy too. It pours with a beautiful creamy egg-shell white head, that stays for almost the whole glass and left beautiful lacing too!

The aroma is of sour lemons and granny smith apple peel, as well as some piney hops that are balanced with a nice light, caramel maltiness. Tastes of the apples and citrus again – although much less sour, a candy-like sweetness from the malt is offset partially by the citrusy hops, but plays around in the aftertaste too.

All in all, a solid first effort Amie! You really should be proud of it :)
