This week my pre-ordered wet hops from Brewmasters Warehouse are finally in! I have a pound of Citra and a pound of Cascade coming that are certainly destined for great things out of my brew pot!!
I had thought we might do two separate beers and single hop them, but it seems I underestimated the equivalencies between dry and wet hops (about 5:1) and to get anything hoppy enough for our tastes I’m going to have to combine them. Oh tragedy!
I’m going to make a rye IPA, which is the first time I’ve used rye in one – I have used it in wheat beers and also in my Iron Brewer Belgian Tripel and I like how it dries the beer out, making it less sticky. Here’s the recipe for now, barring any changes of course, you’ll have to multiply the hops by 5 to get the actual amounts of wet hops I’ll be using:
Brew day will be this Sunday, I’ll be sure to post an update on the outcome!
