So we left the big city D.C behind, and headed out to Rehoboth Beach, DE. Friends had lent us their condo for the week and we were planning on having a relaxing old time, along with a couple of brewery tours thrown in for good measure! First stop after dumping our luggage – Dogfish Head Brewpub! We tried a couple of Brewpub exclusives:
Shark Beer: Golden ale fermented with Kolsch yeast, wet hopped with Galena hops!
Bed Burglar: Amber ale, with my favourite (!!) Nelson Sauvin hops
Odd-ummm: Honey beer, brewed with local peaches – like Festina Peche on steroids!
We also had the 75 minute on cask…O…M…G…! So good
The food was also fantastic! Brent and I both had the burger, which is made from beef from the cows that eat the spent grain from Dogfish. Absolutely the best burger I’ve eaten in a really long time. My mum had the chowder, which she raved about, and my dad’s roast beef sandwich was a hit
We got a couple of growlers to go; one of Punkin’ and another of the Shelter Pale Ale, and headed home via the supermarket for some juicy steaks and chilled out for the evening
Tomorrow – Brewery Tour!
More D.E. to come!
